Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Born and raised on the outskirts of Barcelona She has been described as an "atypical pop star" due to her genre-bending music styles. She was attracted by Spanish folk music at the age of 13 years old. She studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. Blending flamenco and hip hop and pop music the album produced "Malamente" (single) as well as "Pienso in tu mira (single). Both singles have been hugely successful and garnered a lot of critical praise. El Mal Querer was the first to introduce Rosalia on the world stage of music. [12][13(13) Rosalia has explored the urbano genre with her 2019 albums "Con Altura" and "Yo Ti x Tu x Mi", having global success. Her third studio album Motomami (2022) provided reggaeton with a new experimental sound, breaking away from the previous flamenco style. The album garnered international attention due to its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" and was subsequently the most reviewed album this year by Metacritic. Rosalia has had ten top one songs in her native country in her entire career. This is the most she's ever had for an artist from her own country. Rosalia has received 11 Latin Grammy Awards, two Grammy Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards 4 MTV Europe Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards, and two Premio Ruido Awards. In the year 2019, Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award for "changing the style of popular music with her innovative flamenco-influenced pop",[18and was the first act from Spain in the history of music to be nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. She was born in a family with no artistic heritage and is the eldest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small family-owned business that specializes in metalworks. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in the year 2019. She has a younger sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative brain. Rosalia discovered her love for the performing arts as a young person in particular after she was introduced to the discography of Camaron de la Isla. She began her musical studies at Taller de Musics. She completed a six-year course at the academy. She began her studies at the Raval school and later transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. She also independently performed as an independent artist at weddings and in bars with musical music in which she was paid "a little over 80 euros or for dinner".
